👻❄️COVER REVEAL❄️👻
I am beyond excited to reveal the cover for HAUNT YOUR HEART OUT, my spooky/snowy small-town romance where a ghost-faking former vlogger and a ghost-hunting filmmaker collide.
I wrote the first draft of this book in late 2020, between chaotic homeschooling moments and virtual therapy appointments that I never really got the hang of. I missed being with people. I was lonely and tired and needed to surround myself with some kind of comfort because the world wasn’t giving any.
So, I started writing a book set in Stowe, Vermont: A perfect little snowglobe of a town, with historic inns and creaky old buildings and SO many ghost stories. Population: about 800. Annual tourists: about 850,000.
Why’d I write about a former vlog host faking ghosts in her hometown? Because I used to spend hours hanging out at Emily’s Bridge and in cemeteries watching for flickers by the light of the moon*. I once crept past doors inside the Green Mountain Inn listening for their famed tap-dancing ghost—and dashed away down the hall like an absolute chicken when I thought I heard the ghost** (Reader: it was a door closing.)** Because I find a sense of calm in cemeteries and in forgotten spaces.
Why in winter? Not a day goes by in my house when we don’t quote A Christmas Carol—and I am certain that ghosts and winter go together. Also, Lorelai Gilmore and I have similar opinions regarding snow and I’d choose winter over summer any day.
Haunt Your Heart Out was the gentle hug I needed when the world was chaos***. It’s hope and heart and finding home. It’s snow and spice. It’s the complicated feelings that come with holidays, and healing to go along with them. It’s my comfort book because it’s all of my favorite things wrapped up in a gift to myself—because I needed to remind myself that there’s good in the world, even when it’s hard to see.
Fans of LOVELIGHT FARMS and THE DEAD ROMANTICS, people who think Ghost Hunters is totally staged (but love it anyway), and anyone wanting to visit a real-life Stars Hollow might enjoy HAUNT YOUR HEART OUT.

A dashing ghost hunter and the bookseller who made up the ghosts he’s chasing wind up entangled in more ways than one in this steamy contemporary romance from the author of Text Appeal, perfect for fans of Ashley Poston and Chloe Liese.
Homebody Lex McCall loves her sleepy Vermont town and quiet bookstore job. After her family, friends, and exes all moved away to seek futures elsewhere, Lex set one rule: no dating tourists, newcomers, or anyone else who is bound to leave her behind. When the bookshop owner, eager to offload the supposedly haunted building, offers to sell the store to Lex at an unbeatable price, Lex jumps at the chance to further put down roots.
Then handsome stranger James stops by the bookstore. Lex assumes he’s just another tourist passing through, but it turns out he’s part of a ghost-hunting documentary crew that’s looking into the many “verified” ghost stories in town. Lex can’t resist getting involved—especially because these so-called ghosts are actually made up stories from Haunted Happenings, her hobby vlog from a decade prior. Worried her ghost-faking secret will get out and ruin her chance to buy the store, she tampers with the ghosthunters' research and skews the results. After all, James’s stay is only temporary and her career dreams come first.
But as they spend more time together, Lex realizes she’s falling for James. Worse, there’s more at stake than her simply being found out and losing his affection: his mission isn’t as frivolous as it seems and her interference may cost him much more than a spooky story.
This not-quite-ghost-story is sure to delight Gilmore Girls fans and anyone who loves flirty romances with a little extra spirit.
Quick Notes:
*Maybe I’ll release some awkward photos of Mall Goth Amber™ circa 2005 when I hit 1000 Goodreads adds…
**While there are ghosthunters in HYHO, this isn’t a paranormal/horror/ghost book! I can’t even watch trailers for scary movies, so that’s not my space. If you’re looking for romance with actual ghosts, I have recommendations—and I’ll share those soon!
***Haunt Your Heart Out is a feel-good romance that centers love, hope, healing, and Happily Ever After. It also includes subjects that some readers may find difficult, including past death of a grandparent (off-page), family tensions, and descriptions of anxiety and depression.
